'The Innermost Light‘ from our third album „The Course Of Empire“ was originally intended as a pure vocal track without any guitars, synthesizers and orchestrati- on. The version presented here is one of the very first recordings of the song, comple- tely a cappella. This was the starting point from which the arrangement grew into the final version featured on the album. The reason why we kept working on the track was that it felt a little naked to us. On the other hand, it‘s also quite beautiful in this stripped-down original version already, with it‘s haunting atmosphere and hopeful lyrics reminding of church anthems. The artwork on the front cover is taken from Ben Harff‘s wonderful illustration of the distant peak of Masis in the booklet for “The Course Of Empire”.

Another nice compilation! The instrumental version of Under waves lie our dead is absolutely magical and this alone in my opinion is worth purchasing Angleland! Still plenty of great material to be found! Talon Sullivan

My favorite material from Solstice! Despite their amazing discography that lay before this that completely set the foundation, this in my opinion is where it all comes to a mighty peak. What an amazing emotional and powerful picture painted in such a short amount of time. Talon Sullivan
